Resolution #2

2008 April 9

One of the things I’ve been very bad at previously is thanking people when I use their code snippets/advise/solutions.

You might know the scenario:

  1. You have a problem
  2. You search the internet for a solution
  3. You find a few of them don’t work, but then you find one does
  4. You continue doing what you were doing before you had the problem

Now, step number 4 should actually be to report back somehow about the solution you found that worked, both to thank the person who gave you the solution and to help others who have the same problem after you.

I don’t do this often enough, and since I am now the proud owner of a technical blog, my second resolution on the blog (the first being to post!) is to thank others for their efforts, when I find them useful.

Therefore, to this end I have to mentioned the following post on the mephisto wiki, about Getting Mint to Play Nice.

A few years ago, a friend told me about Mint, by Shaun Inman, and ever since I’ve used this for statistics on my websites, both clients and personal.

This blog is now minted, thanks to the people above! Resolution #2 is off and running in style!
